Have you ever thought of what the person always wearing headphones is listening to? Would you be surprised at the actual impact music can have on you? A lot of people listen to different varieties of music, whether it be rock, jazz, R&B, Hip-Hop, Metal, Classical, or even Country. With this in mind, the different types of music you listen to can actually influence the way we think in our day to day activities, and therefore changing your mindset and the way your brain can process information.

People that listen to uplifting music are generally more happy and positive people overall. However, on the other hand more melancholy music can shower someone with a mood of sadness. These two people are most likely going to have different mindsets since they listen to different music. The lyrics of the music we listen to send a message to us as the listeners and can potentially change someone’s point of view on life. For instance, based on the music you listen to your mind will be persuaded to see different objects differently. This can also be emotions or memories.

Not to mention, studies show that music can reduce stress levels since it can reach different parts of your mind that normal words aren't able to through rhythm. A lot of people listen to music, whether it be in their earbuds or blast it at home. People that experience high levels of stress or anxiety or even disorders such as insomnia or even mood problems, can have a healing therapy known as music therapy. The Cleveland Clinic states that “Music therapy is the clinical use of music to accomplish individualized goals such as reducing stress, improving mood and even improving self-expression.” So, if we're ever stressed or experiencing something in our lives, music can be a way to escape reality for a while.

However, music can also be a way to stay focused or concentrated, which is why car companies put radios in cars so not only does the driver stay entertained but also stays focused on the road. Another example can include how people at the gym are constantly listening to music. Some people even do this while they're working out to help stay focused or even for motivation. These are just a few examples of how music can help us stay focused or motivated in our day to day activities.

Therefore, proving that music has a bigger impact than most of us thought. We as highschool and college students experience tons of stress through our assignments or experiences. So make sure to listen to your favorite music once in a while, it can have a bigger impact than you think.
