Let’s Expose Racism For the Hate That It Is
Racism in addition to treating a group of people horribly due to the amount of melanin also lies. It lies to those who are not oppressed that privilege is not real. It lies to Black Women and tells that they are not beautiful due to the tight curls that fall from their head, their melanated complexions, and fullness of their bodies. It lies to young black men and tells them that they could never be more than a thug, criminal, or at best working in some way in the entertainment industry. Racism doesn't just affect those mistreated, it also affects those who are not oppressed, it affects everyone as a whole. So when people say that Racism is not something that affects them therefore they do not have to care about it, they fail to realize that it most certainly does, just not in the same way to the same degree. Racism has robbed us of an ideal society where everyone is seen and treated as equal and discrimination is something that can not even be processed let alone practiced. Racism in America lies to people telling them that America is the greatest country of all time due to this trauma and if you do not love it, then you can leave. This of course is not appropriate nor is it correct because while America is still an amazing country and personally I would not like to be anywhere else, it still has millions of factors that it needs to improve on. Additionally, in many people’s opinion, including mine, you can not tell a Black American to either love or leave America due to the fact that they have built in from the ground up for free. The bottom line here is that Racism lies and will continue to lie unless we bring an end to it.
This article was not meant to say that Black people are weak but, it was to say that we are victims and have been for an incredibly long time due to the treatment of this country. The very principles that this country is built on are hypercritical, and put the odds giants black and brown people. However, we have come a long way. We went from working on plantations with disgusting treatment, to president of the United States. We went from not being able to work around white people unless it was in some form of servitude due to laws to beating them in awards, job fields, and academics to say the very least. However, this does not mean that the fight is over and that we do not still have a long way to go. It solely means that we were able to come a long way over time and we will be able to come much further given more time, and the country will finally be able to one day live up to its values that,” All men were created equal.”
