Spring into Summer

By Valerie Padilla

While Spring has just started it is still important to acknowledge that there are 55 days left until summer break begins, in this article I’ll give you some helpful tips on what to do for this upcoming Summer season! It's the perfect season to get outside and explore a plethora of fun activities. Whether you're planning a solo adventure, a family outing, or a gathering with friends, here are some fun things to do in the summer to make the most of the season!

  1. Hit the Beach: Nothing says summer like a day at the beach! Whether you prefer the ocean, a lake, or a river, spending a day by the water is a classic summer activity. Build sandcastles, go for a swim, play beach volleyball, or simply relax with a good book while soaking up the sun. Don't forget to pack sunscreen, snacks, and plenty of water to stay hydrated!

  2. Go Camping: Pitch a tent at a nearby campground or go backpacking for a more adventurous experience. Roast marshmallows over a campfire, stargaze at night, and wake up to the sounds of birds chirping in the morning. It's a perfect opportunity to unplug, unwind, and enjoy quality time with loved ones, even if it may be a little hot.

  3. Take a Hike: Lace up your hiking boots and hit the trails! Summer is a prime time for hiking, as the weather is generally mild and the scenery is lush and vibrant. Choose from easy nature walks, moderate day hikes, or challenging summit treks depending on your skill level and preferences. Don't forget to bring plenty of water, snacks, and a camera to capture the stunning vistas along the way.

  4. Explore Farmers Markets: Summer is the season for fresh, locally grown produce. Visit your local farmers market to browse through a colorful array of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other goodies. Chat with local farmers, artisans, and vendors, and enjoy live music or other entertainment. It's a great way to support local agriculture and enjoy delicious, seasonal treats.

  5. Have a Picnic: Picnics are a delightful way to enjoy the outdoors and indulge in some delicious treats. Pack a blanket, some sandwiches, fruits, and snacks, and head to a local park, beach, or forest for a leisurely meal in nature. Bring along some games or a good book, and spend a lazy afternoon relaxing and soaking in the summer weather.

  6. Visit Amusement Parks: If you're seeking an adrenaline rush, visiting an amusement park is a perfect summer activity. Ride roller coasters, spin on Ferris wheels, splash down water slides, and enjoy other thrilling rides and attractions. Amusement parks are a fun-filled adventure for families, friends, or even for a day of solo excitement.
