Under a canopy of twinkling lights and a sea of glowing decorations, this year's Homecoming theme, 'Illuminated Dreams,' transformed the night into a magical celebration where students’ fantasies and school spirit shined bright.
The choice to move Homecoming to Uhazy Hall proved a popular decision with the more than 300 students who attended SOAR’s first dance of the school year.
“I liked Uhazy because it’s more open, there's no grass, and it isn’t cramped like the Cafeteria,” said junior, Samantha Solano.
Freshman, Jaremell Banks, agreed, saying “The environment was great, and I’m surprised about the amount of people, it’s a great space for a lot of people.”
Under the pulsating lights of the packed dance floor, DJ Sunil McCray once again proved why he is the most in-demand DJ for SOAR events. He has built a reputation for not only playing the hottest tracks but for reading the room with near-supernatural accuracy. McCray’s sets are more than just a playlist of hits; they're carefully crafted journeys through genres and decades, designed to keep the energy rising and crowds moving.
Along with an excellent playlist, SOAR's Dance and Music clubs were electric. It began with Music Club atop Uhazy Hall with members opening the party with a medley of popular songs.
Not long after, Dance Club emerged from Uhazy to showcase high-energy moves that thrilled the crowd. Its members truly put on an unforgettable performance.
With this being his last Homecoming, senior Rhema Joseph said this year’s was the best yet because of the music and atmosphere.
“I’ve never seen so many people,” he said, adding “ it was great because I got to see people I haven’t seen for a bit. We all came together.”
Teachers and staff even got in on the HOCO action, as chaperones. One of them was Mr Swafford, who could be seen manning the pizza and drink booth. Although he did not get as much of the experience as the students, he had a good time. “I got to see everyone come and go and strike conversations with all of my students. There were great vibes and a lot of energy.”
