If you live with anxiety, you're far from alone. This is a poem I wrote to provide comfort and shatter the silence surrounding mental health.
In and out
In and out
My body shakes with uncertainty
Gasping for air with urgency
In and out.
The world around me flashing,
My thoughts abruptly clashing
In and out.
Swirling in darkness regardless,
Of my eyes alertness and sharpness
In and out.
A small rhythm begins to break out,
I feel my mouth in the middle of a drought
In and out.
Suddenly I awaken with the same fear,
That surges through me 365 days a year
In and out.
I open my eyes and here I see,
It’s just the classroom, my test, and me
In and out
In and out.
