The majority of teenagers are known to play video games, and most of them play for an extensive amount of time. How does this affect their mental health and performance overall? Even if it is fun to pass the time, and play with friends, gaming could have an impact on your state of mind. Some of the side effects of spending too much time gaming could be depression, lack of motivation, social anxiety or anxiety in general, and loss of interest in other activities.
Overgaming causes numbness and social isolation by removing a person from their real-life obligations, relationships, and emotions. Furthermore, playing video games lowers physical activity levels and messes with sleep cycles, all of which are linked to depression symptoms. You are more likely to stick with your poor screen habit if you spend a lot of time doing so. Your body will eventually adjust to it, and you won't be as driven to do much, other play video games of course. Compared to other online gamers, social anxiety sufferers are more likely to be stuck on their games since they offer a distraction from real-world social interactions and a way to avoid the discomfort that comes with them. For a variety of reasons, playing video games can make you less interested in other activities. Since many video games are so absorbing, people may find themselves playing for longer periods of time and associating with other aspects of their lives less frequently.
However, a monitored amount of time gaming can have benefits for teens. These benefits can include problem-solving, critical decision-making, memory, and improved cognitive abilities. By pushing players to generate new knowledge from hard scenarios within interactive environments, games give young users tough scenarios that foster problem-solving skills. Playing video games has been shown to improve problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and critical thinking. This is because playing video games demands the brain to swiftly digest information, think strategically, and react to it. Planning and problem-solving techniques seen in video games help teens improve their focus. The brain can benefit from challenging video games in various ways, including better information processing, increased visual perception, and an easier time switching between tasks.
