Lights! Camera! Fashion! One of SOAR High School's newest clubs is none other than Fashion Club! After a long year of sitting in sweats and pajamas all day (every day), it has been interesting transitioning back into getting ready for school every morning.
Juniors Krista Gleason and Nathan Ballesteros, though, have jumped right back into the swing of things and are always ready to meet the fabulous and trend-worthy demands of daily life. President and Vice President of Fashion Club Krista and Nathan decided to start the club this year because they wanted to bring something to the school that it didn't have. "SOAR is very academic and STEM-based," Krista explained, "We wanted to make a creative outlet for students to express themselves through fashion." Inspired by the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), the club's mission statement is to:
"...give students the opportunity to express themselves through the medium of fashion while also learning more about the industry. With many of the activities that will take place, they will pull elements of fashion design, styling, photography, graphic design, and marketing."
The main goal of the club is to create a positive environment where members can express themselves. Nathan says that his personal goal is to help the club grow and flourish so that when he and Krista graduate, it will continue and be a part of SOAR's student life for many years to come.
Fashion Club is still accepting members, and you can attend any of their meetings every other Thursday at lunch in room S8. For any questions or concerns about Fashion Club, you can email Krista Gleason at 165325@students.avhsd.org.
