“Relax,” Mrs. Jobb exclaims, “You got this!”
In only her second year working at SOAR High School, Mrs. Jobb already understands the tremendous amount of pressure SOAR students put on themselves to succeed.
“My best advice,” she continued, “To relax. I know it’s a lot of hard work, a lot of time, and a lot of effort, but you can do it.”
Today, Mrs. Jobb teaches U.S. History and AVID 11 at SOAR High School. In the future, she would also like to teach a “History Through Film”elective that would explore different periods of history with television and movies. She is also the advisor of Dance Club and Fashion Club! Before coming to SOAR, Mrs. Jobb also worked at Eastside High School for fourteen years and Highland High School for two.
“SOAR is the high school I wish existed when I was in high school. I initially came here because I wanted to be able to help those kids that just need a little bit of help to blossom,” She explained, “You’re the changemakers that will someday change the world. One day, I will be voting these students into office.”
Mrs. Jobb first got her bachelor’s degree at UCLA in Environmental Studies with a specialization in American Government. Outside of school, she spends a lot of time with her two kids and loves to quilt!
While she has had a lot of different jobs in the past, Mrs. Jobb has no plan to move away from SOAR anytime soon.
“My favorite thing about SOAR is you kids. The kids and the teachers are so invested in a common goal of education and everyone is so motivated. You just won’t find this type of community anywhere else!”
A special thanks to Mrs. Jobb for being this month’s Featured Teacher
