As we come back from winter break we realize it’s another year, which means repeatedly writing 20 instead of 19 on our papers. We have already gone through our New Years, but there’s still a celebration to be had, Chinese New Year. The Chinese New Year is also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival. They use a lunar calendar, unlike us who use the sun. In this calendar is where the Chinese zodiacs take place. Much like the zodiacs we know, there are 12 Chinese zodiacs only, instead of months, it goes by years. For example, 2000 is the year of the dragon, 2001 the year of the snake, 2002 is the year of the horse, and so on. The cycle restarts after 12 years. 2020 is the year of the rat, which wishes success. The Chinese horoscope states that it will be a prosperous and lucky year for almost all zodiac signs, so Happy New Year and I hope you have a prosperous and successful year.
