Seventeen-year-old Katelyn Perez is a senior at SOAR High School. In addition to being a Journalism staff member, Katelyn is the vice president of the Christian Club, treasurer of the National Honors Society and the California Scholarship Federation, while also being an active member of the Hispanic and LatinX Club.  Katelyn keeps her schedule busy with academics as she is in the Antelope Valley College Honors Program and maintains a 4.0 GPA. In the summer, her favorite place to vacation is Hawaii.  She can imagine herself living there someday! Her favorite restaurant is In-n-Out and her favorite thing to do is spend time with her friends and family. She is passionate about reading and writing and has been since elementary school.  Her love for writing has only grown since then.  Her favorite author is Sandra Cisneros and her favorite books are The House on Mango Street and Always Running.  Her ultimate goal in life is to make her family proud through her hard work, integrity, and dedication.  You can catch her taking plenty of pictures of her two adorable cats, Marie and Gatsby!
